Old Parish Rooms Rayleigh

The Old Parish Rooms Rayleigh make the ideal budget wedding venue for a small wedding reception. Equally this venue is well suited for a smart birthday or anniversary party. The Old Parish Rooms function room features two galleries above the main hall, and a small bar area. The whole venue is very compact but smart and classy. Extended licence is available on request up (party finish 1am).

Old Parish Rooms Rayleigh Wedding Venue Review

I was the DJ at a wedding recently and went to view the hall with the bride to be, and meet the Old Parish Rooms Rayleigh Wedding Coordinator.

I preferred to set up my equipment on the ground floor facing the dance floor area and this was all agreed. However on the evening I found that tables for the wedding breakfast took up space designated for me, and I had to set up upstairs in the gallery area instead.

From a DJ point of view I definitely prefer to be among guests on the same level, so that I can easily take requests and ‘be in touch’ with guests. DJing from the Old Parish Rooms Rayleigh gallery upstairs put space between me and the audience, and also made it difficult to hear how the music sounded to the audience, as I was behind the speakers and a glass screen.

Drink prices

I recently was charged £4.40 for a pint of lime and soda which I thought was extraordinarily over priced. I contacted the manager and expressed my concern. The bar is run and managed by a separate company and I was told that the matter would be looked into. Update: Lime and Soda now £4 a pint.

What’s the big deal? Well – just be careful with any venue if you are putting a float behind the bar. You want to know how long it will last, and that you aren’t paying through the nose. So ask for the price of a couple of common drinks so you have an idea.

That aside, the staff were helpful and friendly and I would definitely recommend taking a look at this ‘possibly overlooked’ wedding venue.

The Old Parish Rooms Rayleigh are located opposite the Council Offices, and outside the Holy Trinity Church at the top of Rayleigh High Street. You can park in the car park at the rear, accessed via Rectory Garth, or opposite in the Council Offices car park.

Angie and Mark's Amazing Wedding Reception

I performed along side Will and Mike aka Old Hat at Angie and Mark’s wedding reception. This ranks as one of my favorite recent gigs because I got to take some terrific photos too. The guest made the night so enjoyable. Non-stop dancing and a fantastic atmosphere made capturing great shots of very photogenic guests much easier.

Colin Cushing celebrates his 70th in style

The Old Parish Rooms Rayleigh played host to Colin’s superb birthday party. Notably the food and service were excellent. Chicken, beef and BBQ Salmon skewers went down very well, and formed part of a seemingly endless hot buffet selection.
